Castile Soap

As we’ve said before we have two methods here. So, only those who will use the castile soap method will get this.

Now about castile soap. This soap is a completely vegetable-based soap. It has ingredients that are understandable.

Castile soap-

  • Is gentle on your skin
  • Fights against dirt and grease in an effective way

This is actually an all-surface cleaner. You can clean up your skin, floor and even your pet with this soap.

Our Budget Pick (for castile soap): Pure-Castile Liquid Soap

Vinegar

People who will use the vinegar solution will only buy this. Vinegar is actually 5 percent acetic acid mixed with 95 percent water. You can easily degrease and clean your home with vinegar. It’s pretty effective but has a drawback.

If you have marble or granite flooring, then it’s better that you don’t use vinegar for cleaning. Besides this vinegar is actually a multipurpose product.

Our Choice for vinegar: Green Gobbler ULTIMATE VINEGAR

Lemon Juice

This is actually citric acid.

Most importantly lemon juice is the most natural ingredient in this list. Lemon fights against germs and dirt both. The best part of using lemon juice is that it gives out an amazing scent after cleaning.

Rubbing Alcohol

Its actual name is isopropyl alcohol. In grocery stores, this is sold as an antiseptic. There is a particular reason for using rubbing alcohol in our solution. This allows the solution to evaporate quickly after cleaning.

You can also use vodka as a substitute for rubbing alcohol.

Essential Oils

Simply put, essential oils are plant-derived concentrated oils. Besides their contribution to the fragrance, these oils have a great disinfecting ability. Fighting off germs while spreading fragrance. What cooler than this?

Water, Solution Bottles and Gloves

Water is the solvent that will mix all the ingredients together. This will bring down the concentration level of the ingredients to make those efficient and safe for delicate floors.

Solution bottles are bottles where you’ll make the solution on.

Although most of the ingredients here are natural and pretty harmless, still use gloves to keep your skin intact.

Making the Solution

Now, we will layout the two recipes one by one. At first, we will go with the Castile soap recipe and then we will see the vinegar recipe.

Castile Soap Cleaner

Ingredients

  • Distilled Water (2cups)
  • Minimum 2 tablespoon and maximum a quarter cup of castile soap.
  • 15 drops essential oil (Choose your flavor)

Method

  1. Take water into the bottle
  2. Add castile soap according to your measurement
  3. Add up the essential oil
  4. Shake gently
  5. Store in room temperature
  6. Use through Bissell CrossWave

We have another castile soap cleaner recipe for you. If you think that only castile soap won’t be enough for your floor or carpet cleaning, then you can try this out.

Ingredients

  • Baking Soda (2 tablespoons)
  • Liquid Castile Soap (1 tablespoon)
  • Water (About 1.5 cups)

If you have a big house, then use this ratio to increase your solution amount.

Method

  1. Pour water into the bottle
  2. Add up the baking soda
  3. Put the required amount of castile soap inside
  4. Add around 10 drops of essential oils
  5. Shake
  6. Use through Bissell CrossWave

Use any of these methods to make your substitute solution.

Vinegar Cleaner

Ingredient amount

  • Distilled water (1 cup)
  • White distilled vinegar (1 Cup)
  • Half of a lemon juiced
  • 15 drops of essential oils

Making steps

  1. Take water into the bottle
  2. Add up the vinegar
  3. Pour the lemon juice into the bottle
  4. Put 15 drops of essential oil according to your flavor of choice
  5. Use through Bissell CrossWave

Both of these methods should be used within 3 weeks of production. Again, we are telling you not to use the vinegar solution on marble or granite floorings.

Some people also have used Lysol and other cleaners in Bissell CrossWave. Many have claimed that nothing happens. But our advice is that, if you use anything other than the recommended solutions and our suggested solutions then do it at your own risk.

Bottom Line

Although it’s recommended to use the Bissell CrossWave cleaner solution with its machine, sometimes it’s okay to use other cleaners.

To be honest, desperate times need desperate measures. But don’t start using these solutions on a regular basis. Use the substitutes when you don’t have other options.

Lastly, we can say that inventing new solutions are like a gamble. If you don’t succeed, then you’d have to say goodbye to your machine. So, good luck and happy cleaning.

  2. I only use vinegar and water on my laminate floors and tiled floors. Using whatever is in the Bissell formula would probably build up. Once you start using the soapy stuff on rugs they are never the same and requires cleaning often. Don’t have pets and shoes are off at the door.
