Have you finally moved into your dream home?
Whether you’ve finally moved out of your college apartment to something bigger, or you got a larger house for your growing family, moving into a bigger house always gives you that feeling of joy and excitement.
However, a larger house does have a few drawbacks. For starters, they are harder to clean and tend to get dirty very quickly. Areas in the house that have lots of traffic can get filthy fast, while forgotten corners can gather dust.
What can you do? Using a mop or a broom can wreak havoc on your back. Regular vacuums are barely any better.
Robot vacuums are nothing short of a modern-day miracle. They clean up most kinds of messes all by themselves, giving you time for more important tasks. Or you know, time to nap and watch another episode of Dynasty.
While most robot vacuums are great for small apartments or regular-sized houses, they aren’t great for more complex homes. That’s where the Roborock S4 Robot Vacuum comes in handy. It has a direct approach to cleaning homes with lots of furniture, complicated layouts, and loads of traffic.
In my Roborock S4 review, I will go into all the finer details about this vacuum. Also, I will walk you through its design and special features, as well as how it performs.

Roborock S4 Design and Features: A Quick Glance
My first impression was that the S4 looked a lot like any other robot vacuum. But after a closer look, I realized it has a much sleeker and more sophisticated design.
The vacuum is a shiny black and looks almost futuristic. It is small, light, and most importantly, flat. The low-lying design allows it to get under your bed or couch and clean hard-to-reach spaces.
When it comes to the S4’s features, these are the ones that caught my eye.
Four Cleaning Modes:
This vacuum has four different cleaning modes with increasing suction. Silent is a super quiet mode, best for very light cleaning. The Standard mode is meant for everyday cleaning and has the perfect balance between suction power and battery usage.
The Medium mode is an advanced version of the Standard one. Lastly, the Turbo is best suited for quickly spot-cleaning messes or spills.
Easy App Use:
If you’re unsure about technology, you might be wary of robot vacuums because they need an app. However, the S4 takes just a minute to connect to your phone. All you need to do is install the Mi Home App.
When you log in, there is an option to add a device. The app scans and finds the S4 in seconds and voila! Your vacuum is connected to the app. With the app, you can get the vacuum to start cleaning with the push of a button, no matter where you are. You can also schedule cleaning with the app so that it regularly cleans at a set time.
For me, this was the device’s selling point. After activating the specific function in the app, the first time you run the vacuum, it makes a map of your floor plan. Also, it automatically divides the floor plan into zones.
After this, it will ‘remember’ the zones and floor plan whenever you start a cleaning job. You can even choose to let the S4 clean specific rooms or zones if needed. You can even create no-go zones!
Unlike conventional robot vacuums, this has excellent navigation. It doesn’t bump into furniture, get lost, or end up moving around the same area for 20 minutes.
Built-In Fall Protection:
Worried about your robot vacuum falling off ledges or down the stairs? The S4 is smarter than that. It can right up to the edge of your stairs without toppling over. This is because it has 4 sensors that scan the floor and stop it from falling off edges.
You might have seen countless videos of robot vacuums trapped between furniture or in corners, unable to escape without human intervention. Since the S4 was designed for more complicated environments, it is much harder to trap. It’s LIDAR scanner laser vision navigation and drivetrain enable it to avoid obstacles and free itself when stuck.
How Well Does the S4 Perform?
If you’re impressed with this robot vacuum’s features, you’ll love how well it performs. It has top-notch cleaning and suction power and can clean the smallest, most stubborn bits of dirt. No matter how it clings to your carpet, the S4 can dislodge and clean it up.
And there’s more to go on about…
The device uses a supersized LiPo battery that lets it run longer than other robot vacuums. In fact, the S4 can run for up to 150 minutes before it needs recharging.
In other words, it can clean almost 2700 square feet in one go. This level of endurance makes the vacuum exceptional in my opinion.
The intense suction is what lets the S4 vacuum deep clean every inch of your home. It generates 2000Pa of suction and has an array of adaptive brushes, which easily lifts dust, crumbs, and hair from almost all kinds of flooring. Whether you have hardwood or carpets, your floors will look spotless and polished.
The S4 balances ideal motor power and suction with rather low noise levels. Instead of having a vacuum screech in your ears as it cleans, the S4 is rather quiet. You can easily ignore it, since the sound blends into the background easily. This also makes it a good choice for pet owners.
This device is pretty self-dependent. You don’t really need to keep an eye on it all the time. Moreover, the transparent design means you can easily check the dust bin to see if its full. All you need to do is glance through the shell to see whether it needs emptying.
Furthermore, it charges itself automatically. When it runs low on charge, it returns to the charging dock and recharges before returning to the cleaning dock.
